The Club ran a photograph competition over the last 12 months. We received 40 entries across five categories. Here are the winning entries in each category. Thank you to “Aunty” Kaye Hargreaves for judging our competition, and to all those who submitted entries to the competition.
![]() Overall winner: Ian Dobson (From the “Meet the Pack!” category) Judge’s comment: “It’s visually interesting, contains a clever pun and I know how hard it can be to get a group of puppies all in one place, let alone on a piece of equipment like that.” |

The Club held its annual Members’ Christmas Fun Day/Competition on 28th November. The day was warm and dry but it didn't stop everybody having a great time. As usual the day ended with an appearance by Santa - who arrived by dogsled of course! Thank you to all who attended and volunteered their time and effort to stage this event.

The Club held its annual Members’ Christmas Fun Day/Competition on 24th November. A highlight of this year’s event was the Agility demonstration, where the dogs and their handlers could try out their skills at navigating standard agility course equipment. The dogs jumped (literally) at the chance to have a go at this new and interesting experience, and we will endeavour to provide an agility course at future Members’ days. Several new members came along for the day and we had a Competition dominated by rookies. Hopefully this will encourage the exhibitors to continue to come along and continue to participate in conformance showing events. As usual the day ended with an appearance by Santa - who arrived by dogsled of course! Thank you to all who attended and volunteered their time and effort to stage this event, and thank you very much to our judge for the day, Mrs Val Moore.

Most weekends during December, Santa appeared at several major shopping centres, with the assistance of Siberian Husky power! Volunteers from the Club offered their time and effort, while the dogs were "stars" of the show and were admired and patted by scores of thrilled children (and some adults too!)
Here are some photos from Brandon Park. Other appearances took place at Northcote, Glenroy, Ballarat and Bendigo. An eight dog team also starred at the Knox Carols by Candlelight evening.

Many thanks to the members who came along to support the Club and promote the movie Snow Dogs.
On Sunday the 23rd of June we were at Greater Union Cinemas in Russell Street. The dogs got lots of attention from a great group of people from Challenge. At first we were asked to have the dogs run through the cinema off lead during the film. On second thought it was agreed that the kiddies’ munchies may not survive so they were kept on lead and we got to see the movie in the front row. Thanks to Jenny Boase, Trevor Taylor, Christine Reynolds, Nita Blanch, Jenny Lamond, Dawn & Matt Gager, Ian Dobson and their friends and family members who also attended.
On Sunday the 30th we were at the Village Cinema in Fountain Gate Shopping Centre. The dogs made an entrance for the first screening with Ian riding the rig with a 4 dog team. Then all the patting began. With each session entering and leaving the foyer there was much admiration of and many questions about our PR dogs. Thanks to Lynne Munro, Leanne and Peter Cary, Christine Reynolds, Sandra Kershaw and Glen Campbell, Jenny Lamond and Ian Dobson and their friends and family members who also attended.

Members of the SHCV participated in the Moomba Street parade with two four-dog teams 'pulling' a stranded antarctic whale tram! Some photos from the day are below. Thanks to those who volunteered their time for the Club.

Members of the SHCV helped out with our stand at the Pet Expo held at Caulfield Racecourse in early February. This was a great opportunity for the public to meet some Siberians and learn about the breed from their owners. Some photos from the day are below. Thanks to those who volunteered their time for the Club.
