JUNE 2004: Storm is a desexed black and white two year old bitch with brown eyes. She has found a new home with Rohan Blanch, a long-time club member. Storm will be very happy in her new home and we wish her well with Rohan and the racing crew.

JAN 2004: April, a lovely two year old girl who is not for the faint hearted. She is a big teddy bear who loves to cuddle. She has a loveable personality and gets along well with other dogs. She does however, suffer from separation anxiety, and has found a strong and patient new owner who is willing to work with her. JAN 2004: Mishka - a two year old girl. Has been an outdoor dog, good with people, possibly cat friendly under supervision. Well trained & relaxed for her age.

JULY 2003: Panda - a sweet, active 9 year old girl SEPTEMBER 2003: Shadow is a 12 month old girl who has found a new home where she will get to race the way she wants to!

NOVEMBER 2003: Moet, a two year old red & white female with blue eyes. JUNE 2003: Sasha - a very outgoing happy girl loves to play during the day, and then settle on the couch at night!

JUNE 2003: Shadow JAN 2003: Zorro, a young, boisterous 2 ½ year old grey and white male.

NOV 2002: Baya, a one year old grey and white female, with brown eyes, was also rehomed and I have to give a big thanks to Jacqui McNicol who helped out and cared for this girl until a new home could be found.

NOV 2002: Zak has been in his new home for a year now and we have a correspondence update from his new family.

"...anyway about the more important subject, Master Zak. He is really adjusted well to our family and because of his layback attitude, we all have a ball. the kids love playing with him and look forward to them coming home from school. he is getting along well with the 3yr old as you can see in the pic. he is part of our family, even the inlaws who aint really animal lovers has taken to him well. look forward to seeing you all at the christmas party. From Richard daniels and Family"

SEP 2002: Zac has found a new home in Canberra, our first interstate rescue dog!

"Hi, It’s been six months since Zac made the trip to Canberra so I thought that I should update the club on how things are progressing. Zac took about an hour to muster up enough courage to walk towards me on our first meeting, and he remains very suspicious of strangers. Once you’ve gained his trust, however, he is extremely friendly and he’ll approach you with confidence – usually for a back rub! Fortunately, he gets along well with our Husky/Kelpie cross, Dusty – Zac is the white one while Dusty is brown/white – and he has quickly established himself as the Alpha dog. Dusty can be quite dominant in play so a power struggle sometimes occurs when we go for a run in the park, but generally their relationship has been a good one. He is also generally well behaved around our two cats, usually giving them only a cursory glance and then continuing on with his own business. The cats generally rule the house though, over both dogs! We commenced obedience training with Zac in February with my partner as his primary handler. Much to our delight he not only passed, but also earned a red ribbon for coming second in his class! We are proud of the progress that Zac has made and he is progressing well in the intermediate obedience program. I would like to thank everyone at SHCV involved in the adoption of Zac. He has become a valued member of our family and we are looking forward to spending many years together."

Wayne Lodge REID, ACT., April 2003

APR 2002: Braveheart, a 6yo female with a lovely gentle nature, now has a new home! AUG 2002: Spike has found a new home, and a new name Canuck. He is settling in well!

MAR 2002: After a long wait for the perfect home, Sibby now has a new owner to give her the love and attention that she deserves.

JAN 2002: Xander has found a new home with a patient owner, a fun-loving Siberian friend and some nice chewy shoes. Since we rescued him in half-starved condition from the streets in December, Xander has been nurtured back to full health and is quickly regaining much of his lost muscle tone. (He's also found the Siberian way of testing his new owner's patience in nearly every possible manner).

OCT 2001: Buffy the six month old pup now has a new home!  Found wandering the streets of Melbourne with a damaged leg, we rehabilitated this young energetic bundle of fun and have now homed her to a loving family with two young boys, where she's sure to be kept entertained.  We very rarely get puppies this young going through the rescue programme, so this is an exceptional girl indeed!

JULY 2001: We found a home for April! It seems that the wait for the best home was well and truly worth it. You be the judge, as we already have some correspondence from Kelie, her new person.

"Say hello to our new baby! April is the new member of our family and has taken over the household quicker than you could possible imagine. The photos are from David's  parents' house in Melbourne two days after April first came to live with us. As you can see she has the run of the place! Before anything else we want to thank April's previous family and Jennie very much for giving us the opportunity to welcome a husky into our home. If nothing else it has been rewarding and certainly entertaining. So much so in fact that we look forward to another rescue in about 12 months so that April can have a little brother or sister! She has settled in very well and taken to everyone here very quickly, much to our surprise! After surviving a plane and a car trip she was still an angel, but we will see what is yet to come. She has become the queen of the castle, though pretends not to know that everyone is watching her and struts her stuff for our guests. Puppy play and obedience training have once again become a part of my life and it is all a new adventure for David. We are very happy to have her with us. The sticking of her cold nose under the blankets onto our feet at 2 in the morning is something that will have to be dealt with though, and the ball with the bell in it has got to go, though we are surprised that it isn't buried in the backyard yet! Anyway, all is well with our new addition and we look forward to more in the future. You were right Jennie, they are like potato chips, you can't just have one."

Love David, Kelie and April, July 2001.

NOV 2000: Kahma has spent several months in her new home with Sammy, the two human kids, and the human mum and dad. It seems she has brought the hormones to an even position now, so the family has three girls, and three boys. Her and Sammy spend lots of time running about and playing together. Here is a family who had kids and then got another dog, (ok then, four-legged kid).

"Hi Jennie,
Just letting you know that my new family is taking good care of me and the two human kids are my best friends. They even do my brushing for me. I have settled in very well and have had a lot of fun with my companion Sammy playing all day together on the deck, or just lounging around soaking up the sun. I have even stopped digging up the yard as I have found that they have a good supply of bugs and lizards to chase around near the wood pile. I still have an appetite for anything plastic and my small human friends have 'lost' a few toys they have left out. woof woof"

From Kahma and family, September 2001.

OCT 2000: Cheyenne has now spent nearly six months with her best friend Alby, a gentle Malamute male, and their human, Lance. They enjoy roaming and playing in the back yard, lounging in the house, and visiting all of the neighborhood kids.

OCT 2000:  This is Kosher, and he recently sent us email telling us how he was doing.

"Aunty Jennie, I want to say Hello (Woof Woof) from my new home. These guys are great, they feed me really really well. My mate (Cougar) and I go for walks all the time (but we have to take Mum and Dad).  Cougar hasn't been here for two days (Mum and Dad took him away in a van) but he is back now very quiet missing some bits - he said he really hasn't been feeling himself (but that's not surprising… I have seen what's missing… Cougar hasn't worked it out yet but he is gonna be peed off when he works it out"

It seems he has settled in really well and is loving every minute of his new family.

OCT 2000:  Shea. This was not her name before, as we really don't know a lot about her past, she had to be named by her new owners. Word is she has taken to sleeping on beds, and keeps someone company almost all the time. You see, she knows humans really need to be taken care of. Her proud new humans are getting stopped all the time, and no one can understand why this darling girl was left at the pound.

SEP 2000: Sasha.  She was left at a kennel, and passed on to us by the owner. When I first spoke to Richenda, she said she was going to get a female to be her dog (as their male Mishca had taken to Richard), and she would call her Sasha. Well ... imagine her surprise when I phoned to tell her of Sasha, who was strong enough to stand up to stand up to Mishca, and cheeky enough to need Richenda's strength of character. I would like to congratulate Richard and Richenda for putting a lot of work into our most difficult rescue to date. This is Sasha's third home, and Richenda says her LAST! They are now inseparable.
